BOOK #6 – Who Moved My Cheese?
Who moved my cheese? Is written by Dr. Spencer Johnson & is categories as a motivational book. The book tackles the typical event that we all encounter in life; change. Each handle change differently it all boils down to their personality, priorities, worries, or personal experiences to name some ( there are a lot of other elements). The book represented the situation by telling a parable about Sniff, Scurry, Hem & Haw. The setting of the story is that all of them is living in a maze with the purpose to look for cheese or cheese factories for survival. Throughout the parable, the characters encountered various hardships & situations that are related to change.
The main aspect of this book is how Sniff, Scurry, Hem & Haw handle each situation and obstacle; they are to represent the different ways individuals tackle and view change. The author believed that we could be one or the other, a combination of both, with the option of transitioning from one perspective to another. Each of the characters has their unique outlook on life that is very relatable. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I do agree that the way Sniff, Scurry, Hem & Haw behaves towards change is pretty much the same style we handle change. Which is why I can recommend this book!
This book is very straight forward and simple to read, I believe this book would be useful for individuals who are struggling with work or life right now. The content of the book is something we already know but probably lost awareness off. If you are in at tight situation, this book might give you the revelation you need to move on or overcome the current obstacle.
Some of the highlights are:
- If you don’t change, you can become extinct.
- The more important the cheese is to you the more you want to hold on to it.
- What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
